Abstract Scope |
In this study, it was aimed to examine the metallurgical structures of AA6082 alloys after the casting and homogenization process. During the casting of AA6082 alloys, billets were produced. The porosity was determined by the reduced pressure test and bifilm index were examined. Liquid metal was treated with flux feeder in the holding furnace with different conditions such as changing gas flow rate, changing flux ratio and degassign duration.
The billets were then subjected to different homogenization process where microstructures and homogeneity were examined. In addition, SEM and EDS examinations were carried out to characterise the AlFeSi and Mg2Si phase distrubutions. It was found that the melt cleanliness plays a significant role on the end product quality. |
