| Abstract Scope |
While the complexity of additive manufacturing (AM) microstructures is well-documented, quantitative characterization and modeling of these structures remain limited. This research details a 3D analysis of grain and defect structures in LPBF 316L stainless steel, utilizing an EBSD serial sectioning dataset of over 30,000 grains. We investigate 3D crystallographic interface textures and internal orientation gradients, comparing experimental observations with modeling outputs to evaluate current simulation capabilities. |
