Abstract Scope |
This study investigates the flexural performance and surface hardness of ramie fiber-reinforced composites at 40% and 60% fiber volume fractions, as well as a control group of pure epoxy resin, with and without prior exposure to artificial sweat. The main objective is to evaluate the influence of moisture absorption on the mechanical behavior of these natural composites. The flexural tests revealed that sweat absorption leads to a reduction in resistance, especially at higher fiber contents, indicating the sensitivity of natural fibers to moisture. The hardness results also showed a decrease after exposure, highlighting the need for protective treatments in real applications. These findings contribute to understanding the durability of ramie composites in environments with high moisture exposure, reinforcing their potential with considerations for practical use. |
