| Abstract Scope |
Multi-material cold spray additive manufacturing enables the fabrication of multifunctional components while avoiding melting-related defects; however, the bonding behavior between sequentially deposited cold-sprayed dissimilar alloys remains insufficiently understood. This study investigates the influence of sequential cold spray deposition and post-deposition hot isostatic pressing (HIP) on the interfacial bonding, microstructural evolution, and mechanical performance of GRCop42 deposited onto a previously cold-sprayed Inconel 625 layer. X-ray computed tomography was used to evaluate interfacial porosity, while scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy, and electron backscatter diffraction characterized interface morphology and particle deformation. Hardness mapping and tensile testing correlated interfacial microstructure with mechanical performance. This work establishes processing-bonding-microstructure relationships in sequentially cold-sprayed GRCop42/Inconel 625 deposits and provides insight into the design of mechanically robust multi-material cold-sprayed structures for advanced thermal management and structural applications. |
