Abstract Scope |
Ceramics based materials are riddled with intrinsic issues like brittleness, poor manufacturability, high manufacturing losses, and low fracture toughness. There is a critical need to design ceramics with intrinsic fracture toughness and customizable properties. In this presentation, I will present some of the recent development in my research group in tackling some of the above mentioned issues. In the part-A of the presentation, I will present techniques by which manufacturability of ceramics can be improved. In the part-B of the presentation, I will present studies to enhance the fracture toughness of ceramics by crystal structure and microstructure design. It is expected that these technologies can be further commercialized. |
