| Abstract Scope |
Small scale mechanical testing on irradiated specimens provides more physical samples when material quantities are limited, with the added safety benefit of reduced radioactive exposure. A high force, dual column, rotating load train universal test system is presented, including fixturing for miniature irradiated dogbone samples. Bearing runout is less than 1 micron and a four degree of freedom fixture aligns the two rotating axes. The open nature of the dual column frame enables laser heating for extreme temperature testing. |
