| Abstract Scope |
An experimental and numerical study of the precipitation of carbides was conducted in a N-containing 0.05C-0.25N-21.3Mn-9.2Ni-13Cr-1Mo austenitic stainless steel and it effect on the cryogenic at -197 °C. Isothermal aging of steel specimens was conducted at temperatures of 600, 700, 800 and 900 °C for times of 10-1000 min. The aged specimens were microstructurally characterized by electron scanning microscope and X-ray diffraction. CVN impact test of heat-treated specimens were carried out at -196°C. Themo-Calc software was employed to analyze the precipitation process of this steel. The present work results indicated the intergranular and intragranular precipitation of Cr2N nitrides and Cr-rich M23C6 carbides. The precipitation promoted a decrease in CVN impact test energy with an increase in aging temperature and time. The fracture mode changed from transgranular ductile to brittle intergranular because of precipitation. |
