Abstract Scope |
In a previous study, we confirmed that the distribution of grain boundary precipitates varies depending on grain boundaries in Al-4%Cu-1.5%Mg alloy specimens under all the four aging conditions: at 190, 140, 90 and 40ºC for 103, 3×103, 104 and 3×104min, respectively. In the present study, we have been studying the reason for the above-mentioned variation focusing on the peak-aged specimen, i.e., aged at 190ºC for 103min. Specimens were solutionized at 505ºC for 1h, water-quenched and subsequently peak-aged. Using a transmission electron microscope , the distribution of grain boundary precipitates was observed, and the orientation relationship of the precipitates with the neighboring two matrix grains was investigated, to draw a conclusion on the reason for the differences in the distribution of the grain boundary precipitates depending on the grain boundaries in Al-Cu-Mg alloys. |
