Abstract Scope |
With the deterioration of raw material quality in blast furnace ironmaking, the continuous increase in sulfur content and Al₂O₃ levels has impaired the desulfurization capacity of slag. High-MgO fluxed pellets were employed in a 5500 m³ blast furnace, aiming to optimize slag desulfurization performance and ensure stable operation. Through experimental studies on the preparation of magnesium-containing pellets, the MgO content in the fluxed pellets was increased from 0.57% to 0.96%. The results demonstrated that elevating the MgO content in the pellets enhanced their reducibility, reduced the reduction swelling rate, and improved the stability of degradation resistance. However, integrated burden testing indicated a slight widening of the cohesive zone after the application of magnesium-containing pellets. Industrial application results showed that as the MgO/Al₂O₃ ratio in the slag increased from 0.50 to 0.56, the desulfurization capacity of the slag was significantly enhanced while maintaining a stable furnace pressure drop. |
