| Abstract Scope |
In this work, the SX Ni-based superalloy René N5 (Ni-7.0Cr-8.0Co-2.0Mo-3.0Re-5.0W-6.2Al-7.0Ta-0.2Hf) has been subjected to chemical composition modifications with platinum (Pt). Observations and analyses of five variants were carried out using thermodynamic simulations, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction (XRD), light microscopy (LM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Thermodynamical simulations showed that the Pt addition effectively influences the stability of γ’ and increases its volume fraction. Pt is partitioning mainly in the γ’ not γ matrix. Microstructure of produced castings characterized by a typical dendritic structure with a dominant amount of cubic-like intermetallic γ’ phase.
This work was supported by the National Science Center (Poland) under project “Monocrystalline Ni-based superalloys modified with platinum for the production of critical rotating turbine components of aircraft engines” (2023/51/D/ST11/00945). |
