Abstract Scope |
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have become transformative in both development and application for education systems and instructor utilization. The integration of AI and ML into educational systems promises to augment learning experiences, optimize delivery methods, enhance evaluation and assessment, and improve administrative efficiency such as grading and reporting. Use of AI for research has reduced the time spent by students gathering information and data allowing for more efficient and effective analysis. AI and ML is reshaping education in several areas, including personalized learning, adaptive tutoring systems, test generation from digested text by large language model (LLM) systems, augmented reality (AR) and virtual (VR) systems using real-time heads up displays for cognitive and psychomotor practice, and the use of digital twins. Personalized learning systems leverage AI/ML to adapt educational content to individual students’ needs, learning preferences, and paces. This presentation will provide an overview of AI/ML in education with specific examples and applications. Further, the presentation will discuss the ethical challenges of the use of AI/ML in education. |
