Abstract Scope |
Manufacturing in the U.S. is changing in many ways, shaped by macro-level issues such as supply chain disruptions, shifting global conditions, and domestic challenges like aging infrastructure and a shortage of skilled workers. In this talk, we’ll share some thoughts from a small business perspective on how these challenges are being tackled—through the growth of large-scale additive manufacturing, the revitalization of traditional processes, and the integration of modern tools like hybrid/convergent manufacturing, robotics, machine learning/AI, and ICME. We’ll also highlight the importance of building the right workforce to support these changes, and how education and training will play a key role in the future of manufacturing. |
