| Abstract Scope |
Computer-based simulation of dispersed barrier hardening (DBH) was developed nearly 60 years ago, and selected results from this initial work, such as how barrier spatial distribution affects estimated yield strength (YS), have largely gone unnoticed. The present work revisits and extends several previous developments from the original studies and that of others. The point-size obstacle DBH simulation was developed and validated on archetypal obstacle arrangements and compared to simulation results from literature. Following validation, the model was used to explore the YS contribution of multiple strength obstacle arrangements with varying degrees of obstacle strength mismatch and spatial correlation. Validation results along with comparisons to select experimental work will be presented. |
