Abstract Scope |
Nonlinear absorption of ultrafast laser pulses in transparent materials enables patterning complex structures. However, this is slow, and material redeposition limits high aspect ratio structures. An alternative is to process glass with sub-ablation fluences which modify the structure of glass so that it is selectively etched when exposed to strong acids or bases. This work studies the relationship between process parameters and etch rates in KOH and how these facilitate the production of complex 3D structures for optics and microfluidics. |
