Abstract Scope |
Alternate feeding of two feeder groups with equal rate is commonly employed in high-amperage reduction cells. Both anode changing and feeding malfunctions cause uneven alumina concentration, leading to anode effects, sludge, and lower current efficiency. Online precise measurement technology of zone anode current provides new ideas to improve the alumina concentration uniformity and rapid diagnosis of individual feeding port faults. In this study, the statistical laws and zone resistance response characteristics of underfeeding and overfeeding stages using the zone anode current of a 400kA aluminum reduction cell were analyzed. The differences in the zone resistance changes over time in the same feeding stage were studied. The results of manual-controlled feeding experiments showed that the response of zone resistance to low local alumina concentration was greater than that to high local alumina concentration, which may be the combined effects of mass transfer between zones and the resistance response to alumina concentration. |
