Abstract Scope |
Process metallurgy continues to evolve as resources change and megatrends for the economics of ferrous and non-ferrous metals become more complex. However, the underlying fundamentals of the thermodynamics is still valid and our understanding of process metallurgy has been significantly enhanced through the outstanding and systematic works of renown scientist Prof. Kazuki Morita of The University of Tokyo. In this presentation, the knowledge base that has been significantly enhanced by Prof. Morita in the field of pyrometallurgy using fundamental thermodynamics related to chemical metallurgy will be discussed and the works within the Neo Metallurgical Processing Lab (NMPL) will be compared. The innovative works from ferrous metallurgy to non-ferrous metallurgical recycling studies within NMPL could not have been possible without the pioneering works within the lab of Prof. Morita. This talk hopes to convey and appreciate the special relationship and impact of the works that honors Prof. Morita. |
