Presentation Title Advancing Biomechanics, AI, and Engineering Biology: NSF Initiatives for Transformative Research

Abstract Scope Dr. Shivani Sharma from National Science Foundation (NSF) will discuss funding opportunities, available through several NSF programs she oversees. These include the Biomechanics and Mechanobiology (BMMB) program, which supports foundational research aimed at uncovering the mechanics of biological systems and the effects of mechanical forces on biological functions. This program encourages interdisciplinary approaches bridging engineering, biology, and medicine to deepen our understanding of mechanobiology, with a long-term goal of improving human health. Additional NSF national and international research initiatives at the interface of biology and engineering will also be discussed.
