| Abstract Scope |
Bragg coherent X-ray diffraction imaging (BCDI) has become a powerful characterization technique for three-dimensional nanoscale imaging of crystalline materials. With its unique sensitivity to lattice, BCDI enables visualization of both morphology and internal lattice distortions at the single-particle or single-grain level. Incorporating in situ and operando capabilities into BCDI enables more realistic studies of how materials evolve under functional conditions.
This presentation will describe recent advances in BCDI and highlight experimental results obtained at the 34-ID-C/F beamlines of the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory. In-situ/operando BCDI experiments have successfully revealed the spatial distribution and temporal evolution of strain and defects in energy materials at the nanoscale. As upgraded synchrotrons deliver brilliant coherent X-ray photons, BCDI is expected to provide even more detailed insights into material structure and behavior. I will conclude by discussing future opportunities and anticipated developments in in-situ/operando BCDI. |
