| Abstract Scope |
Elemental powder mixtures were sintered by SPS to produce samples with intentional chemical variations to study its effect on the phase content of the TiZrAlNbMo based high entropy alloys (HEA). Microstructural characterization was conducted by means of scanning electron microscopy, including EDS and by x-ray diffraction. It was revealed that major phase is the bcc-matrix, depending on composition, AlZr based intermetallic particles were also present. The threshold of Nb and Mo content for stabilization of single-phase bcc matrix was revealed. The experimental results were complemented by Thermocalc calculations using TCHEA4 database. It was revealed that qualitative predictions and trends are correct, while explicit quantitative determination is not fully consistent with experimental data. High-throughput experimental determination of phase content and microstructure interplace for HEA development and tailoring is considered. Manufacturing and characterization of gradient samples allows efficient analysis of the effect of individual elements on microstructure and phase content in HEA. |
