Abstract Scope |
CoCrNi alloys have recently attracted significant attention for high-temperature aerospace applications. GRX-810, a CoCrNi-based alloy with minor alloying elements, has shown considerable promise in this field. In this work, equimolar CoCrNi and GRX-810 alloys were investigated. Both alloys exhibited a single-phase face-centered cubic (FCC) structure. Laboratory air anneals were conducted from 700 to 900 C. Characterization of scale morphology and structure has been carried out through the use of XRD, SEM, EBSD, TEM, and EDS. We quantified the influence of the starting microstructure (by comparing as-printed and HIPed alloys) and the impact of alloying elements (by comparing CoCrNi and GRX-810) on oxidation kinetics, oxide scale morphology and microstructure, and microstructural changes in the underlying alloys. |
