Abstract Scope |
Refractory medium-entropy alloys (MEAs), designed for high-temperature structural applications, are challenging to process due to their high melting points and complex chemistries. In this study, various MEA compositions based on refractory elements such as Nb, Hf, Mo, Zr, and Ti were synthesized using plasma melting and subsequently processed into powder form via ultrasonic plasma atomization. The produced powders demonstrated spherical morphology, high chemical homogeneity, and uniform microstructure, validating the suitability of this method for transforming complex alloys into a form compatible with additive manufacturing. This approach provides a valuable pathway for generating research-grade powders and accelerating the development of advanced materials for extreme environments. |
