| Abstract Scope |
Conductive MXenes are attractive electromagnetic shielding materials, but their high permittivity often causes reflection-dominant responses and poor impedance matching. Here, we explore morphology-assisted absorption by converting aqueous Ti3C2Tx MXene into crumpled microspheres and incorporating magnetic iron oxide particles via co-spray drying. Instead of pre-anchoring particles onto MXene sheets, separately prepared MXene and iron oxide dispersions are mixed before atomization, enabling droplet drying to assemble hybrid microspheres. The wrinkled architecture is designed to suppress continuous conductive pathways, generate heterointerfaces and voids, and promote interfacial polarization, internal reflections, and coupled dielectric-magnetic losses. This scalable wet-processing strategy transforms lightweight conductive MXene systems into broadband electromagnetic wave absorbers.
