| Abstract Scope |
Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has initiated a project to upgrade the Pot Feed System (PFS) in DX+ Ultra cells, aiming to boost the reliability of the alumina conveying process. This automated system is responsible for transporting alumina from silos to cells, which is crucial for maintaining optimal alumina concentrations in the electrolytic bath. Stable alumina levels directly impact cell efficiency and help prevent operational issues such as anode effects. The PFS includes features like alarm management, pressure vessel monitoring, section feed regulation, individual operation control, isolation mechanisms, and intermediate silo feeding. The upgrade resolved challenges and safety concerns in the original delivery setup, resulting in improved system responsiveness, reliability, and operational stability. Implementation was planned to minimize production interruptions and downtime, with a focus on critical design parameters and potroom safety. These enhancements resulted into improvements of overall cell performance and stability. |
