| Abstract Scope |
Additive manufacturing (AM) offers new opportunities for fabricating complex magnetic components with tailored properties. This work explores the use of multimaterial extrusion based AM to produce bonded rare earth magnets using distinct feedstocks comprising PA12 based composites with embedded magnetic powders. By spatially varying the material composition during the printing process, it is possible to introduce localized differences in magnetic behavior, thermal response, or mechanical performance within a single part. A pellet-fed FDM platform enables high-loading feedstock deposition with flexibility in material switching and part geometry. The printed structures are characterized to assess interfacial quality, magnetic performance, and geometric fidelity. This approach demonstrates the potential of multimaterial AM for designing magnets with integrated functionality, offering advantages for applications where conventional processing imposes limitations on shape, material distribution, or performance under operating conditions. |
