| Abstract Scope |
Additive manufacturing of polymer-ceramic composites offers the ability to produce neutron radiation shields with customizable geometries and compositions. This is conventionally done via filament extrusion methods. However, filament extrusion is constrained to relatively low ceramic loadings, which limits shielding capabilities. In contrast, a powder bed fusion approach allows higher loadings of ceramics. In this study, zirconium diboride and nylon 12 powders are mixed and printed via powder bed fusion and
evaluated as neutron radiation shields. |
