| Abstract Scope |
The rapid expansion of lunar activity is accelerating demand for permanent surface infrastructure capable of supporting the next generation of science, exploration, and resource-utilization missions. Individual missions and short-duration landers are inherently resource-limiting for operational ISRU systems. Establishing permanent infrastructure can transform these individual missions into a sustainable ecosystem, enabling coordinated surface operations, shared utilities, and long-term commercial activity.
Voyager’s LunaGrid architecture is designed as the backbone of this ecosystem. Providing scalable, multi-kilowatt power generation, management, and distribution, LunaGrid links Vertical Solar Array nodes through cables spanning more than 4 km, delivering uninterrupted electrical power across diverse sites. This capability enables both large- and small-scale ISRU systems to survive the lunar night and operate continuously across long mission durations. LunaGrid’s first node is TRL 6, with key subsystems already matured to TRL 9 in advance of a first flight in 2029. |
