| Abstract Scope |
Mechanical performance of irradiated materials is important for applications in next generation of nuclear reactors. In this study, in-situ micropillar compression tests were performed on ferritic/martensitic steels that were heat treated under an external magnetic field and subsequently irradiated with 1.5 MeV protons to 0.25 dpa. Scanning electron microscopy data of these in situ compression tests were expanded into a three-channel array and then processed through a custom computer vision program to make the data intelligible to Segment Anything Model 3 (SAM3) to identify and statistically analyze the evolution of slip-bands emerging through grain boundaries over time. The developed method is applicable to in-situ electron microscopy data and offers a scalable tool for evaluating mechanical behavior of structural materials designed for nuclear environments. |
