Abstract Scope |
2D hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites (HOIPs) have emerged as promising low-cost, high-performance direct bandgap semiconductor materials. Their interactions with electric fields are crucial for device engineering and device design. In this talk, we will show our recent results on the dielectric breakdown of 2D HOIPs investigated by advanced scanning probe techniques, using a prototypical family of 2D HOIPs, (BA)2MAn-1PbnI3n+1 (BA = butylammonium, MA = methylammonium cation, and n = 1 to 5) as model examples. We will employ conductive AFM to investigate the dielectric breakdown of 2D HOIPs under various loading conditions and quantify the thickness-dependent breakdown strength as well as the underlying stochastic behavior of the breakdown. We will reveal how the chemical compositions (e.g., the halide ions and spacer molecules) and contact interface affect the dielectric breakdown behavior of 2D HOIPs. The talk will be concluded by a discussion of guidelines and potential applications derived from these studies. |
