| Abstract Scope |
The main focus of this project was to design a system that minimizes temperature losses and improves operational safety by reducing or eliminating operator intervention during the start and end of the casting process.
Because the fixed launder system connected to the HeadBox does not allow vertical adjustment of the tip base, a flexible connection between the HeadBox and the tip base was developed. This Flexi Sleeve connection enables safe transfer of molten aluminum from the HeadBox to the casting tip while allowing vertical movement of the tip base.
In addition, several key components were designed and developed, including a furnace tap-out system, flow regulation system, redesigned ceramic foam filter (CFF) box with heated lids for extended casting campaigns, and an automated HeadBox with integrated flow control. Together, these innovations improve process stability, enhance safety, and optimize overall casting performance. |
