| Abstract Scope |
In this presentation, I will report the recent progress from my research group on the usage of functional additives in the 3D printing processes. More particularly, I will explain the progress in Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), and Stereolithography (SL) process in Additive Manufacturing (AM). As a case study of FDM, progress in 3D printing of Poly Ether ether Ketone (PEEK) based composites will be demonstrated by utilizing silica and Carbon fibers as additives. As a case study of SLS, the synthesis and characterization of 3D printed porous polyamide 12-based composites will be reported. Different natural and bio-based additives, including laver, dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS), and hydroxyapatite (HA) will be explored. These additives enhanced the properties of pure PA12. As a case of SL, waste additives like wind turbine waste will be explored to enhance the properties of UV sensitive thermoset resin. It is expected that these materials will have huge potential for commercialization. |
