| Abstract Scope |
The development of advanced nuclear reactors and processes requires fundamental knowledge of the speciation of corrosion and fission products, as well as reliable and efficient process monitoring and nuclear material accountancy approaches. At Idaho National Laboratory, we have implemented coupled spectroscopy techniques for online monitoring of molten salt and off-gas streams. We have employed an innovative molten salt sampling approach that uses a flow configuration combined with a nebulizer for online monitoring. This presentation will discuss the application of combined spectroscopy approaches, UV-Vis, LIBS and Raman, for the chemical analysis of various species in molten salt and its use in processing applications using aerosolized streams and molten salt vapor analysis. The challenges with design and optimization of optical cells integrating spectroscopy techniques at high temperatures will also be presented. |
