| Abstract Scope |
This study evaluated the recycling potential of polyamide PA11 recovered from decommissioned oil and gas industry pipelines through consecutive reprocessing cycles. The polymer was subjected to five extrusion cycles to simulate repeated recycling. The degradation and mechanical behavior of the material across the cycles were evaluated exclusively through tensile testing performed in accordance with the ASTM standard. This allowed for a precise assessment of tensile strength, elastic modulus, and elongation variations. The results demonstrated that PA11 maintained excellent performance, showing remarkable mechanical and thermal stability with no significant degradation throughout the five studied cycles. In conclusion, the recovered PA11 can successfully undergo multiple reprocessing steps without losing structural integrity. This proves the technical viability of reintegrating pipeline waste into the production cycle, offering a sustainable and economically viable solution for industrial polymer waste. |
