| Abstract Scope |
Cold spray additive manufacturing (CSAM) is an emerging technology with increasing potential in accelerating repair and production of near net shape parts. Its unique solid-state nature results in feedstock powder characteristics being directly reflected in the spray, making powder optimization a key priority. Atomic layer deposition (ALD) offers the ability to improve pre-spray powder quality, most noticeably by reducing oxidation in susceptible powders such as Ti-6Al-4V. This study examined the differences between pristine and ALD-treated Ti64 powders, as well as their respective post-spray deposits, to gain a further understanding of how optimizing pre-spray powder qualities can further improve cold sprayed parts. |
