| Abstract Scope |
The circular economy, which proposes replacing the linear consumption model with reuse and regeneration strategies, has established itself as an essential path toward sustainability. In this scenario, additive manufacturing emerges as a strategic technology, enabling customization and the incorporation of recycled inputs, such as filaments and resins derived from polymeric waste. Significant progress has been made in the development of these materials, with studies demonstrating enhanced thermal stability and increased strength in recycled PET filaments. However, utilizing waste materials still faces challenges, such as properties variability, contamination, and the thermal instability of printed parts. This review aims to analyze recent research connecting the use of waste in additive manufacturing to circular economy principles, highlighting advancements, limitations, and future perspectives. The method employed is a literature review focusing on recent studies addressing the integration of the circular economy and 3D printing, analyzing filament development from waste and the resulting material properties. |
