Abstract Scope |
The microstructure of a light alloy can vary significantly, depending on the solidification and processing conditions. It can significantly influence the corrosion performance and electrochemical properties of the metal. This presentation will briefly talk about the effect of microstructure of Mg, Al and Mg on electrochemical corrosion. In addition to an analysis of grain size and crystal orientation, a comparison of surface films on these metals will be performed. Based on these, the important roles of the films in controlling electrochemical corrosion will be discussed. |
