| Abstract Scope |
Nuclear fusion serves as a promising carbon-free renewable energy alternative. Within these fusion reactors, plasma-facing materials are exposed to plasma containing hydrogen isotope fuels such as deuterium. Such plasma-facing materials must endure harsh conditions including high-heat fluxes and potential plasma bombardment and implantation. Optimization and design of these materials require the accurate detection of the hydrogen species, their diffusion and migration behavior, and thus the materials retention abilities. This work aims to develop the approach, including the use of atom probe tomography (APT) and plasma focused ion beam (PFIB), for characterizing the distribution of hydrogen species in the materials after plasma implantation. |
