| Abstract Scope |
Understanding the dynamic evolution of electrocatalysts under operating conditions is essential for designing efficient and durable energy conversion materials. In situ electrochemical liquid-cell transmission electron microscopy (EC-TEM) enables direct visualization of electrochemical processes with high spatial and temporal resolution. Here, we combine in situ EC-TEM with elemental analysis to investigate the real-time evolution of Pt₃Fe bimetallic catalysts during the hydrogen evolution reaction. Direct observations reveal dynamic dissolution, reorganization, redeposition, and elemental redistribution under electrochemical operation, providing insight into catalyst restructuring and stability. This work demonstrates the capability of in situ EC-TEM to uncover dynamic mechanisms in electrocatalytic materials and highlights its potential for studying structure–property relationships under realistic reaction conditions. |
