The dissolution behavior of copper in organic acid media is of significant interest for its potential in green chemistry and hydrometallurgical applications. The synergistic interaction between organic acids and hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) as an oxidant in aqueous solutions has attracted growing attention but remains poorly understood. This study examines the behavior of the CA–H₂O₂ and MSA–H₂O₂ systems at low pH at 30 °C. Using platinum electrodes as inert probes, electroanalytical techniques, including open-circuit potential (OCP) and cyclic voltammetry measurements are employed to evaluate the redox activity of both systems. Preliminary observations suggest that structural features such as carboxylate functionality may play a role in modulating the reactivity and decomposition kinetics of H₂O₂. However, the mechanistic pathways and the extent of oxidative enhancement remain under active investigation. This research gives insights that will be useful in the oxidative chalcopyrite leaching. |
