Abstract Scope |
MAX phases and MXenes are well known for their unique properties, and thousands of studies on many other properties have been conducted so far. However, the potential use as catalysts or as supports for catalytic active species had been ignored until recently, although they possess the required properties for such processes. The talk will focus on developing MAX phases and MXenes catalysts by surface modification to induce specific new properties/functionalities to perform a wide range of heterogeneous catalytic reactions, beginning with the chemical oxidation/hydrogenation of small molecules and ending with fine chemical reactions. The highly efficient and selective systems that we developed have broad implications for the design of a new generation of cost-effective, earth-abundant, non-toxic, metal catalysts. |
