Abstract Scope |
The German Space Agency (DLR) is responsible for the definition of the German space program and its implementation. Within DLR’s responsibilities, the main objectives of the Research and Exploration Program are to gain scientific knowledge by addressing fundamental questions in life and physical sciences and to foster new technological developments for space. Key elements of the program are national funding of research projects, especially under microgravity conditions, providing access to various microgravity platforms and developing scientific hardware for these platforms through industrial contracts. National funding activities are strongly linked to international cooperation activities.
The Physical and Materials Sciences Program line focuses on gravity-dependent effects within research disciplines such as fundamental physics, material sciences, soft matter, physics of fluids and combustion. The talk will provide an overview over our activities, focusing on materials research and will highlight opportunities for future cooperation in this field. |
