| Abstract Scope |
Fabrication processes (e.g. extrusion or rolling) induce anisotropy in plastic properties at the macroscopic scale. Performant orthotropic yield functions have been developed over the last two decades. Because generating data for various orientations may be challenging (e.g. limited amount of material, or limited resources), the parameters involved in these formulations are estimated using limited data. Parametrization is done numerically. and the quality of the predictions is strongly dependent on the quality of the parametrization. Recently, the author has demonstrated that the 3-D anisotropic yield criteria in terms of principal values of the stress deviator (e.g. Yld91, Yld2004-18p) can be rewritten as simple polynomials in terms of stress invariants. This enables determination of the anisotropy coefficients analytically and to investigate the influence of the data subset used for identification on the predictions. The benefits of these analytical methodologies are presented for 7000 series aluminum rolled sheet and an extruded aluminum alloy. |
