| Abstract Scope |
Up until recently, the performance of magnetocaloric high-entropy alloys (HEAs) was subpar. With a strategic search in the HEA space, we discovered FeMnNiGexSi1-x HEAs with a large magnetocaloric effect (MCE) of 10.2 J kg-1K-1 (2 T), meeting the threshold of a giant MCE and set as the benchmark magnetocaloric HEAs [1,2].
In this talk, we review its impact on the community and demonstrate how microstructural management can further improve MCE up to 145%. The magnetic and HEA communities could benefit from this discovery by developing functional materials with excellent mechanical properties.
