| Abstract Scope |
Mesoscale modelling is a powerful tool for predicting material behavior, but these models are often calibrated using macroscale data or informed from lower length scale ab initio simulations. Full field stress and strain data at the length scale of the microstructure of a material can be a powerful tool for calibrating and developing these models. This presentation will explore high resolution electron backscatter diffraction (HR-EBSD) as a means of mapping stresses and dislocation content in situ or postmortem providing data-rich information on mesoscale plastic and failure behavior.
