This study presents a hydroxyapatite-based carrier system, incorporating metal–organic framework (MOF) designed for the prolonged release of target drug. Composites with varying MOF ratios were synthesized and thoroughly characterized. The sample displayed the greatest drug uptake capacity as 190 mg g-1. The optimal composite was then coated with different aerogel amounts and formed into tablets for release testing in simulated gastric and intestinal media. The formulation with composite/aerogel yielded the longest release duration, extending to 80 hours in gastric fluid and 65 hours in intestinal fluid. Release behavior matched the Korsmeyer–Peppas model under gastric conditions and the zero-order model under intestinal conditions. Overall, the results indicate that hydroxyapatite-based metal–organic framework/aerogel composites hold strong potential as carriers for extended antibiotic delivery. |
