Abstract Scope |
We have been using first principles calculations and universal machine learning potentials to model and understand the influence of interfaces such as grain boundaries and twins on the thermomechanical properties of transition metal carbides. This talk will focus on the composition and structure of grain boundaries in these materials, and how these influence mechanical properties, thermal softening, processing conditions and similar properties. |
