Strong rotated Goss and cube textures are observed in a 6.5 wt% Si non-oriented electrical steel (NOES) produced by hot dipping (in an Al-Si melt) and diffusion annealing of a relatively low silicon (3.5 wt% Si) NOES sheet. The formation of the rotated Goss and cube textures in the hot rolled plate was attributed to the relatively high finishing temperature during hot rolling, while the retention of these textures after cold rolling was associated with the small plastic deformation per pass applied to the steel during the cold rolling process. It was demonstrated that after hot dipping and diffusion annealing, the rotated Goss and cube textures may be retained depending on the annealing temperature and time. The typical alpha and gamma fibers in common NOES after final annealing were essentially eliminated. A Goss texture also forms in the diffusion annealed NOES when the annealing temperature is 1000 degree Celsius. |
