An open-source parallel 3D crystal plasticity finite element (CPFE) software package, PRISMS-Plasticity, is presented here as a part of the overarching PRISMS Center integrated framework. A new PRISMS-Plasticity indentation module is integrated into the framework which can efficiently model indentation of large microstructures of Mg alloys. We incorporated different alloys of Magnesium and measure the slip behavior under indentation loading and compared to experimental results, we observed for different grain orientation and alloy chemistry distribution of slip is different across slip systems. In PRISM plasticity we have also worked on a new module of creep modeling for FCC and HCP materials. In this work we have decreased Critical Resolved Shear stress (CRSS) based on dislocation density and used that to model the stress strain behavior at higher temperature and the model response is compared with experiments and characterization. |
