Fast Fourier Transform (FFT)-based methods for computing thermo-mechanical fields and effective properties of heterogenous materials (composites, polycrystals, porous materials) are attractive due to their higher efficiency compared with Finite Elements and their ability to use direct input from microstructural images (no meshing required). The latter capability has been enhanced by a recent algorithmic improvement [1] that consists in pre-processing voxelized images (obtained, e.g., by computed tomography, CT) to achieve initial geometric accuracy, which carries over large deformations. In this talk, we will report on this extended FFT-based formulation, with emphasis on applications to lattices and foams with input from CT images. [1] M. Zecevic, R.A. Lebensohn and L.
