M-1: Standard Artifacts: Reference Materials for Glass Cultural Heritage Research: Jamie Weaver1; 1National Institute of Standards and Technology
Standard reference materials and reference materials are the backbone of robust analytical measurements. Misapplication of a reference material may cause inaccuracies in the calculation or acquisition of valuable sample data from cultural heritage objects. A handful of glass reference materials of variable grades are currently available to the community. This talk will introduce the various types and uses of reference materials, an overview of glass reference materials available to the cultural heritage community and introduce new materials currently under assessment for use as micro-to-macro elemental quantification glass reference materials.
