Scope Abstracts and papers for the 18th Symposium on Joining of Advanced and Specialty Materials (JASM XVIII) are solicited on fundamentals and applications, and experimental, analytical, and computational studies related to (but not limited to): Welding and joining of conventional and advanced metallic alloys, ceramics, plastics, and composites; Welding and joining processes including arc welding, high energy density and hybrid processes, additive manufacturing, friction stir welding, solid-state joining, brazing and soldering, micro/nano-joining for microelectronic and micromechanical applications, joining for alternative energy sources; Welding metallurgy, weldability, characterization of microstructure, mechanical behavior and service performance of welds and welded structures for power generation, oil and gas, petrochemical, aerospace, automotive, and defense applications; Welding repair of critical structures, surface modification and weld overlays for corrosion, erosion, wear protection, and structural integrity.
